Shane Warne fired brutal sledge at Paul Collingwood following famous 2005 Ashes series
“As the game went on I think Paul Collingwood got 200 as well I think,” Warne said at an event in 2017.The pair had a few running battles over the years with Warne also taking aim at Collingwood for his captaincy in 2009.Asked by Radio 5 Live's Sportsweek whether Australia would be more fearful of a Kevin Pietersen-led England, Warne replied: "I think they'll be wishing Paul Collingwood was captain because I don't think he was very good at all.
"I was pretty disappointed, I think everyone was, with Collingwood's captaincy in the England side during the Twenty20. There was no imagination, no flair … I think he was too busy trying to drive his Aston Martin and fly around in helicopters [rather] than trying to work on his captaincy." Promoting his autobiography in 2018, in a chat with England legend Michael Atherton, Warne used it as a further opportunity to have a little dig at Collingwood.
“Just to digress for one second. You talked about the top five cricketers voted in 2000. I think it was Sir Donald Bradman, Sir Jack Hobbs, Sir Garfield Sobers… and Shane Warne,” Warne said. “I’m still holding out. If Paul Collingwood can get an MBE, I’m very close for a knighthood, I reckon. I must be.”Read More on talkSPORT
