Thomas Bordeleau and the Michigan Wolverines play Magnus Chrona and the Denver Pioneers on April 7 at TD Garden in Boston
Two San Jose Sharks prospects, including one of their best, will each be competing for a national championship next month at the NCAA’s Frozen Four in Boston.
Thomas Bordeleau, the Sharks’ second-round draft pick in 2020, had a goal and two assists to lead Michigan to a 7-4 win over Quinnipiac on Sunday in the Midwest Regional final in Allentown, Penn. Saturday, goalie Magnus Chrona, who the Sharks acquired last year in a trade with Tampa Bay, stopped 24 of 25 shots to help Denver beat Minnesota-Duluth 2-1 in the West Regional Final in Loveland, Colo.
Michigan and Denver, both No. 1 seeds in their respective regionals, will meet in the national semifinal on April 7 at TD Garden in Boston. Minnesota and Minnesota St. play in the other semifinal, with the national championship on April 9. Bordeleau, 20, is in his sophomore year with the Wolverines and is widely considered to be among the Sharks’ brightest prospects. There is a chance he could play with the Sharks later next month, but he hasn’t yet said if he’ll sign an entry-level contract with the team and turn professional.
