JUST IN: Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez reported around 7:30 a.m. Wednesday that the driver of the other vehicle, an unidentified 44-year-old man, has been pronounced dead at the hospital.
An on-duty Harris County sheriff's deputy was involved in a crash Tuesday night in which the driver of another vehicle sustained fatal injuries, officials said.
The deputy was traveling northbound on the 12300 block of Jones Road , west of the Willowbrook area, when they collided with a Nissan Altima, according to Sheriff Ed Gonzalez. Investigators believe the Altima driver made an unprotected left turn while the traffic signal was flashing yellow, Gonzalez said, and authorities suspect that driver was intoxicated. Gonzalez reported around 7:30 a.m. Wednesday that the Altima driver, an unidentified 44-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the hospital.The deputy was released from the hospital hours earlier, according to the sheriff.
