The shooting occurred at about 1:12 p.m. Sunday at a Sunoco station on the corner of East Glenwood Avenue and Gorge Boulevard, police say.
When officers arrived, they found both victims in a “bullet-riddled” car. The 20-year-old driver was wounded in the leg, but the passenger, also 20, was shot in the upper-body.
The driver, whose wound was not life-threatening, was taken to Cleveland Clinic Akron General Medical Center. The passenger was taken to Summa Health Akron City Hospital and was listed in critical condition, police say. The driver tells police the gunmen approached and opened fire, then ran from the area. Police say they found multiple shell casings on Gorge Boulevard.
