Police are working with the centre's staff about aggressive begging, shoplifting and criminal damage
Shop owners and workers in Nottingham's Victoria Centre say shoplifting and anti-social behaviour is getting out of control. The shopping centre is home to 120 retailers and restaurants including H&M, Next and Boots' flagship store, alongside several local independent businesses.
"We sell popular items so they often get taken and then the word spreads. It feels like people come in to scout out the shop for somebody else and as soon as we make eye contact with people they leave. "We opened in February last year but the last few months have been the worst. We’ve had some really expensive items stolen and it’s hard to keep on top of it.
"We’re noticing that they go into Yankee Candles every morning. They go and grab the candles from there and then sell them outside for £5.
