by SBG San Antonio Staff ReportsA Bexar County inmate was found unresponsive in his jail cell, deputies say. According to the Bexar County Sheriff's Office, 63-year-old Ed Penix was found around 2 a.m. unresponsive in his cell located in the infirmary.
Penix was placed in the infirmary because of his pre-existing medical conditions, according to authorities. Medical staff tried to save Penix's life on the way to the hospital but he ended up dying, deputies shared.The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office is working to determine the exact cause of Penix's death.
