Josh Brolin gives quite a mixed update on the status of the highly anticipated third Sicario movie.
, Brolin — who plays CIA officer Matt Graver in the first two installments of the action thriller franchise — says the still-gestating Sicario 3 is getting “closer,” yet
“We are—we’re closer. Yes. Molly Smith, who is a really good friend, who is one of the producers of that on Black Label—I said something. I said, ‘It’s never gonna happen!’ and it kind of went everywhere. And she was very reactive, which I appreciated. I appreciate reaction. They’re very much focused on wanting it to happen, but we won’t let it happen until there’s a story interesting enough to want to spend that kind of money on it,” said the actor.
He added, “Chris was involved for a while, but he’s not now. And I don’t know about Sheridan. I know him really well, but I don’t know if he’s onboard or not.”, the first film — released in 2015 — follows an FBI agent taking part “in an undercover operation targeting a Mexican drug lord.” The second film, titled Sicario: Day of the Soldado, was released in 2018. It was directed by Stefano Sollima.
Blunt didn’t return for the second outing, but both del Toro and Brolin returned to reprise their roles for the sequel.
