Eugene “Skip” Sullivan died at age 70 in November, and the former Oak Lawn High School teacher and coach of 41 years will be remembered as the field will be christened in his honor.

“The one thing that is kind of sad is that he will miss out on all of those former players and coaches and people associated with the program,” current Spartans baseball coach Bill Gerny said. “He would have loved to have reconnected with all of these people because he had such a positive influence on everybody.
The baseball field at Oak Lawn Community High School will be renamed for longtime coach Eugene"Skip" Sullivan at a ceremony Tuesday. Sullivan died late last year. Janet Meyers, a former girls basketball coach who had Sullivan on her staff, is happy to see Sullivan get honored.
