A slow-moving storm will continue to crawl across Utah Tuesday and Wednesday.
The focus of the precipitation is along a frontal boundary which has stalled and isn't making much forward progress.
Ahead of this front, an atmospheric river is pulling a lot of tropical moisture into the state. Here's what you can expect as this storm moves through the region. The stalled front is sitting over western Utah today, and the focus of the heaviest and most widespread precipitation will also be across western Utah as a result.
Valley rain and mountain snow will come in waves, so showers will be on-and-off throughout the afternoon and into the evening. Some showers will linger overnight as well. Eastern Utah will just get a few scattered showers today and tonight. We will finally start to see a little forward movement with the front. As it moves into eastern Utah, it will take the heaviest and most widespread rain with it.
The bullseye for valley rain and mountain snow will be along a line from southwestern Wyoming to southwestern Utah. The Wasatch Front will not see widespread rain, but scattered showers will still move through the region —especially early Wednesday morning and evening. The storm system will exit the state early Thursday. A few isolated showers may still linger in its wake along the Wasatch Front, but they will wrap up early and the rest of the day will be dry.
