The Slutty Vegan, a popular Atlanta-based burger chain, will be opening its first brick and mortar location outside of Georgia in Birmingham’s Woodlawn neighborhood this Sunday.
Here we are four years later. I have one of the most world-renowned concepts in the country with a local footprint. It was really just a bedroom idea that turned into something humongous.I was surprised and I was surprised because I knew that it was going to be good, but I never knew that Slutty Vegan would change this many lives and I’m not just talking about customers. I’m talking about my employees and how they really value this brand and treat it like their own.
A lot of people come up to me and ask for my autograph, ask to take pictures and at first, I wasn’t used to that because I didn’t start the business for that reason. But now, I embrace it because I know there’s people that support me and are rooting for me, near or far.Yeah, of course in the beginning, right? But its warranted. It sounds like a racy, provocative name. But what we are doing is we are redefining a word and we are adding power to it so now we get more support than anything.
Q: You’ve mentioned the labor market a couple of times. So, on that topic, how many jobs is this location bringing to Birmingham? What I also noticed is that it’s close enough for me to be able to drive to Birmingham and check on the business and drive back to Atlanta. But I believe that Birmingham has really big plans coming up and I want to be a part of those big plans.
