File photoMARYSVILLE, Wash. — The Washington State Patrol has released the results of the first of four high-visibility enforcement patrols in Snohomish County, known as HiVE patrols.
The goal of the patrols is to reduce crashes that lead to serious injuries and fatalities, as well as stop crime. Similar patrols are happening across Washington.142 speed stops with infractions.10 stops for other moving violations with infractions such as cellphone use, no seatbelt.During the HiVE patrol, troopers had three vehicles flee when they tried to make a traffic stop. Two out of the three vehicles were not located.
One vehicle was seen exiting Interstate 5 into Everett and was later found in a parking lot. The driver was taken into custody and booked into the Snohomish County Jail for eluding, according to WSP. The second of four patrols was held Saturday, Nov. 26, and focused on the area of Interstate 5 from mileposts 181 to 188 between Lynwood and Everett. WSP said data shows the area has historically seen high numbers of serious injury and fatality collisions.
