Jim Fairlie made the claim when he was asked to defend last year's tax freeze by the SNP-led Government.
An SNP Minister has said the Scottish Government will be able to deliver another council tax freeze if Westminster hands Holyrood more cash. Jim Fairlie defended last year’s freeze and said “the thing” could happen again if Chancellor Rachel Reeves’ Budget this month is good for Scotland.
John Swinney now leads a minority government and he is desperately searching for a party to support his first Budget in December. On BBC Debate Night, Fairlie had an exchange with former Scottish Labour leader Kezia Dugdale on Labour’s Winter Fuel Payment cuts. She said Holyrood had a budget of over £40bn and MSPs could have used the council tax freeze money to do something on WFP.
