Soap fans demand schedule change after Emmerdale and EastEnders go head to head again this week
Soap fans in the UK are demanding for Emmerdale's and EastEnders' scheduling changes to be amended after the shows inevitably clashed once again this week, leaving viewers unable to watch both live.
And it seems as though soap fans have once again had enough of attempting to navigate their way through the schedule changes, with many hitting out at ITV producers for causing them to miss one of the shows whilst it's live. One bitter fan explained: "Ever since Emmerdale changed its time slot, it’s been hard to try and watch both. At first it was EastEnders but the Meena stuff was still going and I preferred it and I couldn’t be annoyed, always catching up, plus BBC iPlayer always buffers, so I’ve just given up on EastEnders now."
"It makes no sense to me why #Emmerdale and #Eastenders are on at the same time," added another disatisfied viewer. "I'm not complaining, its an excuse to miss the s***e on @ITV, but it makes zero scheduling sense". John Whiston, ITV's Managing Director of Continuing Drama, explained the scheduling changes earlier this year, telling the public: "With Coronation Street bursting at the seams with fantastic story and character, the new format gives the show a brilliant new canvas on which to shine.
ITV's Managing Director Kevin Lygo also in a statement: "As viewing habits rapidly change, live audiences to our national and international news programmes remain remarkably strong.
