Malaki Branham has made 53.6 percent of his shots from 10 feet out to the 3-point stripe. From 10 to 16 feet, he has connected on 60 percent .CHICAGO — Spurs rookie Malaki Branham wasn’t sure what his teammates were talking about when they used the term “rodeo road trip” after he arrived in San Antonio last summer as the 20th overall pick.
“I watched him a lot,” Branham said. “Him, Bradley Beal, Devin Booker, all those guys who work in the mid-range, just taking different parts of their games and getting to my spots like they get to theirs.” Branham, 19, excels from mid-range with his knack for finding space and getting to his spots and a high release point, all of which were on display in an impressive two-game stretch he put together last week against Sacramento and Philadelphia.
“Things are just slowing down,” he said. “I’m picking my spots on the court and doing what I know how to do. That’s just as simple as it gets.” The Baylor alumnus suffered the injury last Wednesday against Sacramento. He entered the game on a roll, averaging 18.0 points, 5.9 rebounds and 3.3 assists in his last seven appearances.
