The Saints will face either Vllaznia or Valur in the Europa Conference League later this month - but the Albanian side's clash with the Icelandic outfit was marred by ugly scenes
St Mirren's potential European opponents were involved in an unsavoury dust up in Iceland that left Vllaznia directors reportedly threatening to 'kill' board members of Valur when they arrive in Albania for the second leg next week.
Post-match reports suggest that the referee was spat on and had water bottles thrown at him. The final whistle triggered clashes between the players and fights in the stands, with Albanian fans clashing with home security guards. Icelandic media reported that the situation escalated to such an extent that Vllaznia's board members 'directly threatened Valur's board members with death' ahead of their travel to Albania for the return fixture.
He said: "It would have been nice to get a home win, but it was good to equalise in injury time and this is a decent result. We need to finish the game in the second leg now.
