‘We will die in the hospital,’ one doctor said – with potential air strikes likely to disrupt attempts to evacuate foreigners via Rafah
“I’m working at the Kuwaiti Specialist Hospital. We’ve just received an order to evacuate the hospital,” he said in a frantic voice note to colleagues at FQMS, shared with“The hospital is full of patients and fuel. We are not leaving and will die in the hospital. We have been given two hours to evacuate. Tell all.”
In a post on its Facebook page, the hospital said that there were “dozens” of patients still in the hospital. Years of violent clashes over Israel’s blockade of Gaza and attempts at de-escalation came ahead of the violence last Saturday. Tensions, already at boiling point, havesince Israel’s Benjamin Netanyahu returned to power in December, at the head of a fractious coalition that includes ultra-nationalists and Jewish supremacists.
