Jonathan Stinnett, 36, of Jackson Township, Ohio, pleaded guilty in federal court to kidnapping and possession of child pornography.
Jonathan Stinnett, 36, of Jackson Township, Ohio, pleaded guilty in federal court to kidnapping and possession of child pornography, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Ohio. He is scheduled to be sentenced on July 6.
Prosecutors say that on Nov. 11, 2021, Stinnett kidnapped the girl and took her to Illinois with the intent of sexually assaulting her. The next day, the McLean County Sheriff’s Department in Bloomington, Ill., received a call regarding a suspicious parked vehicle. Deputies responded to the area and found a van with Stinnett and the girl inside.
“Thanks to quick work of law enforcement and a vigilant community, an innocent child was reunited with their family and spared from an unknown fate,” acting U.S. Attorney Michelle Baeppler said in a statement. After his arrest, Stinnett admitted to the kidnapping, prosecutors say. He also reportedly was found with a flash drive containing child pornography.
