The Utah Department of Corrections and the Davis County Sheriff’s Office which operates the jail is taking responsibility for releasing state offender Joseph Leroy Armijo from the jail on September 26, when the Board of Pardons and Parole which has jurisdiction over Armijo rescinded his parole and clearly notified UDC, Adult Probation and Parole and the Release Unit at the Davis County Jail not to release him.
Burr read the narrative of the crime and Armijo attempted to steal a woman’s car. She left it unlocked and went inside her workplace and her co-workers told her that someone was in her car. She came out and started telling Armijo to get out of her car.You got out of her car and ran at the victim and knocked her down and stole her keys, you got back into the vehicle and drove off. Cottonwood Heights Police Department did a pit maneuver to pull you over.
Randall Honey says, “They reviewed it and they decided to rescind his date.” He says the Board notified the UDC case manager who works inside the jail on September 18. He says the case manager along with Davis County Jail staff notified Armijo that his parole date had been rescinded by the board. Additionally, he says Armijo’s family was notified of the decision and instructed not to pick him up from the jail.
It says that the Board used its normal two-tier process and first entered the decision into a shared information system on September 18. It goes on to say, at 9:46 am, that same day the decision was emailed to UDC, the Release Unit and AP&P.
