Stem cell donations are key in treating blood cancer but less than 6% of NI people are on the register.
For many people diagnosed with blood cancer, a stem cell transplant will be the only way they can recover.
However, currently less than 6% of people in Northern Ireland are registers as donors according to DKMS, a blood cancer charity. One man from Newry, Seán Brady, said the decision to sign up was an easy one - it was 12 years after he joined the register that he got a phone call telling him he was a potential match for a patient."For me it was a very small sacrifice for the bigger picture in the grander scheme of things of actually what it could result in, in helping someone.
