Stephen Breyer celebrated his birthday on Sunday. He is the oldest Supreme Court justice currently serving on the bench at 83.
, who became the second-oldest justice to serve in the court's history before he retired at 90.
In April, the progressive nonprofit Demand Justice initiated a campaign encouraging Breyer to retire that included an online petition and a billboard truck that the organization said would drive around the Supreme Court building in Washington, D.C.
"The only responsible choice for Justice Breyer is to immediately announce his retirement so President Biden can quickly nominate the first-ever Black woman Supreme Court justice," Fallon said.
