The club said in a statement that the move would help it with efforts to generate more income.
Stirling Albion have confirmed they are in “exploratory talks” over the acquisition of Forthbank Stadium and the surrounding pitches from the council.
Forthbank currently hosts both Stirling Albion and Stirling University’s football teams, as well as a number of events throughout the week - with the running of the site on a day-to-day basis managed by Active Stirling on the council’s behalf. “Stirling has many benefits, not least population size, which, on the face of it, suggests the club should be able to compete successfully with clubs from smaller towns. But the simple truth is that is not enough.
“These talks are very much at an exploratory stage and, rest assured, we will not proceed with this plan if the financial package to support the club in this transition isn’t right.”
