The Motherwell boss comes up against the Parkhead manager this weekend once again.
Stuart Kettlewell will always be grateful to Brendan Rodgers for guidance and support during his first steps in management.
Kettlewell said: “One of my first games after I’d taken over at Ross County was at Celtic Park. We lost our goalkeeper, we lost a penalty and we had a player sent off and lost 3-0. Talk about a baptism of fire. Credit to Brendan, myself and Stevie Ferguson were co-managers and the time he gave us sitting in his office after the game was brilliant. Not just talking about general gossip within Scottish football but we got to talk about specifics of the game. He was terrific, absolutely brilliant.
“I can do nothing but sing his praises about how he’s been with me when I’ve managed against his teams. But it was in that 45-minute chat at our first meeting that I saw a man who was fully transparent and trying to offer a bit of support to younger guys who were trying to come through in management. In my personal experience he’s a class act.
Well earned plaudits for their performance in defeat at Rangers on Sunday that followed a home loss to St Mirren. But Kettlewell is relishing the challenge of his side trying to take Celtic’s scalp at Fir Park for the first time since 2013.
