Hawaii has the most photographers per capita in the United States.

Hawaii has 123.87 photographers per 100,000 people. For contrast, Mississippi has the lowest number of photographers in the country with just 39.3 photographers per 100,000.

Second on the list is Montana with 110.39 photographers per 100,000 people and a total of 1,172 photography businesses statewide. In fact, northwestern states feature heavily in the list with Wyoming, Idaho, and Oregon joining Big Sky Country. California and New York are among the most populous states so it is safe to assume that they will have the most photographers.
