The Lodi Chief of Police is thanking deputies with the Summit County Sheriff’s Office after they helped handle a hostage situation.
Chief Keith Keough wrote in a letter that a Lodi officer was dispatched to a hostile situation involving a man with a gun held up in a garage.
Officers began talking with the man immediately, but found quickly that he would not come out of the garage on his own accord, Keough said. Deputies with the Summit County Sheriff’s Office were called to the scene after the local SWAT team was unavailable to assist, according to Keough. The chief said a chemical agent was used to get the subject out of the garage and taken into custody without incident.
