The budget supermarket's own-label baked beans have come out on top in a blind taste test
Aldi has come out on top in the battle of the baked beans. The budget supermarket has trumped giants Heinz and Branston in a blind taste test carried out by consumer champions Which? The supermarket's own-label Bramwells Baked Beans In A Rich Tomato Sauce secured an impressive best score of 76% from a panel of 66 taste testers. And they're just 41p for a 410g can.
If consumers switched from Heinz to Aldi beans, indulging in two cans weekly, they could pocket over £100 savings annually, Which? said. M&S Baked Beans In A Rich Tomato Sauce, priced at 50p for a 400g can, was the least well-liked among the panel. It scored just 67%. Less than half of the testers were satisfied with the strength of flavour and a third wished they were sweeter.
