Brazilian meatpacker JBS said on Aug. 13 it would make a second A$425 million takeover bid for Australian salmon farmer Huon Aquaculture. It will run parallel to its original offer at the same price but with a lower shareholder acceptance threshold.
Huon said on Aug. 6 it had agreed to be acquired by JBS for A$3.85 a share in cash under a scheme of arrangement that requires support from 75% of voting shareholders. The purchase price represents a 38% premium to its last closing price and a 61% premium to where it was trading on Feb. 26 before the company announced a strategic review.
