On Friday, a surfer near Bells Beach, Victoria, was attacked by a shark. Footage shows the 23-year-old being helped to shore by a local man.
Matt Sedunary, who was in the water when the incident took place, heard Nacass' cries and went to help him.
"He started screaming. I honestly thought he was mucking around with his friends," Sedunary told 9 News."I'm not going to just ditch this guy. Most people would do the same thing." Footage of Nacass and Sedunary paddling back to shore was taken by Graham Blade, who was watching from a cliff lookout when the encounter took place."I actually saw it pop up behind him and knew it was real," Blade told 9 News."It was lucky Matt was there and Matt was so calm."
Close-ups of the video shared by 9 News show the shark lurking behind Nacass, in the black wetsuit, and Sedunary in the brown rash guard. "We're paddling in and you can see the shark behind, I didn't know it was still there," said Sedunary.The injured 23 year old was helped to shore by a local wave rider, while the animal continued to stalk them from the deep.
