Deputies with the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office arrested a woman suspected of breaking into mailboxes in Sequim early Tuesday.
When law enforcement arrived in the area, they noticed a spray-painted black sedan slowly going westbound on Olson Road. The driver of the car was pointing a flashlight out of the window.After finding out that the driver had a warrant for her arrest for theft, the officers arrested the woman and later booked her into the Clallam County Correctional Facility for mail theft and possession of stolen property.
Deputies also obtained a search warrant for the car and found 102 letters, including checks and credit cards, belonging to multiple Sequim residents. They also found methamphetamines.Authorities advised residents to check their mail as soon as it is delivered, get a locking mailbox or secure a post office box to help prevent mail theft.
