Ormskirk stabbing latest as takeaway worker recalls harrowing scene after public rushed to try and save Matthew Daulby
Takeaway workers, door staff and members of the public were faced with a harrowing scene after rushing to help a tragic teenager who was stabbed during an altercation.
Beverley Payne, who runs the Queen's Head pub on the corner of Moor Street and Moorgate with her partner, Ian Woosnam, said the pub had just closed up for the night when realised something serious was going on outside. Heather Kenny, landlady of the Golden Lion pub on the corner of Railway Road and Moor Street, said her staff saw Matthew and his friends running past the building shortly after midnight.
"We have talked about the doormen maybe should have knife wands, but they stash the knives before. I was speaking to my son and he said they just hide them in the bushes before they go in bars." On Tuesday, Lancashire Police said two men remained in custody, being questioned on suspicion of murder. An 18-year-old, from Scarisbrick, and a 20-year-old, from Ormskirk, were arrested on Sunday, July 30.
