He said the festival’s operations have been hit by the soaring inflation many households have seen in their own budgets. He noted costs for fuelling generators and refrigeration have only risen over the course of the festival’s 25 years. “I think the economics of just people running their own household, there’s different challenges than there was five years ago,” he added.
For restaurants, the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on foot traffic and the subsequent inflation on food has made it difficult to estimate costs of putting together a menu for the festival, Ford said.
