The ships Elissa, Ernestina-Morrissey, Pride of Baltimore II, Nao Trinidad and Thomas Jefferson will be open for tours for four days.
The festival’s main attraction is Elissa and her seafaring companions, which include Ernestina-Morrissey, a 156-foot fishing schooner built in 1894 that once sailed within 600 miles of the North Pole; Nao Trinidad, a Spanish-built replica of the Magellan-Encano expedition’s 16th-century flagship; Pride of Baltimore II, successor to the topsail schooner originally built in 1812; and Thomas Jefferson, a NOAA hydrographic survey ship that helps map the sea floor.
Two more ships will be available for day-sailing excursions and the extra-romantic twilight sail trips: the 80-foot When and If, built for Gen. George Patton; and the Glenn L. Swetman, a 65-foot replica of a Biloxi oyster schooner, ships that earned the nickname “White Winged Queens.” RSVP is required for these voyages, which run $125 for daytime trips and $150 for twilight sails.
