Tarrant County officials have chosen Clinton Ludwig, a former U.S. Marine with no prior elections experience, as the new elections administrator. Ludwig's appointment was unanimously approved by the Election Commission.

O’Hare and Garcia clashed, prompting Garcia’s departure. Although he publicly denied pressuring Garcia to resign, O’HareFor example, O’Hare said it was inappropriate for Garcia to share information with reporters; disagreed with a request for a costly election equipment upgrade; said the March 2022 election results were delayed; and said that Garcia had angered certain local activists.

The publicity around Garcia’s resignation, and Tarrant’s rancorous political climate, made it difficult to attract good candidates, said Campolo, the Democratic chair. Running an election can be a daunting task. The election process is complicated with a lot of logistical moving parts, especially in a state like Texas, where the laws around voting and elections are constantly changing. Campolo said Ludwig stood out during the interview process and was the only candidate who had prepared and read the Election Code because he knew it’d be a crucial part of his role.“He said ‘no’ quickly and without hesitation,” she said.

“He can handle the pressure and Tarrant County voters can rest assured Clint will be a no-nonsense Elections Administrator, and one who will work to ensure safe and secure elections where everyone will feel comfortable in the process,” O’Hare said.
