Canadian Taxpayers Federation has launched an online database of municipal financial reports, fulfilling a promise made by the province.
“That is why they send these statements to the government, and the government knows these processes,” said Haubrich. “It should be easy for them to put it up on an easy-to-search database for taxpayers to see.”

He said compiling the data was not an easy task, and the complexity highlights the pressing need for a better system that works for the average Saskatchewan resident. According to the CTF report, Swift Current spent the most per person in 2021, at $3,741. Martensville spent the least, at $1,794, and the two largest centres in the province — Regina and Saskatoon — spent $3,161 and $2,760 per person, respectively.
