The Dallas County jail is costing taxpayers more this year, particularly as criminal justice staffers say they continue to struggle with software woes.

OnceAttorneys, prosecutors and other staff have found inmates who have made bond and been approved for probation or transfers can wait days or weeks for their paperwork to reach the jail.Jefferson said that staff have logged inquiries into 11,000 cases to determine whether inmates in jail should still be there.
