GLAAD will be holding its 31st annual GLAAD Media Awards in April, and the LGBTQ advocacy organization announced on Tuesday (Jan. 7) that Taylor Swift and Janet Mock will be honored at the event.
, Janet Jackson, Cher, Demi Lovato and more. Mock will receive the Stephen F. Kolzak award, given to a LGBTQ media professional who ardently promotes acceptance.
Swift has used her massive platform to advocate for the LGBTQ community a number of times in the past year. At the beginning of Pride month, the songstress wrote a letter to Tennessee Senator Lamar Alexander, urging him to support the Equality Act. She followed it up with a , which now has more than half a million signatures, to include her fans in supporting the Equality Act. hit "You Need to Calm Down," and paired the acceptance anthem with a music video filled with all our favorite LGBTQ celebrities, including and more. The lyrics shouted out GLAAD , and shut down the haters by chanting, "Shade never made anybody less gay."
The GLAAD Media Awards will take place at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles on April 16. Nominees to be announced on Wednesday .
