Ted Cruz still believes Republicans can regain the majority in the U.S. Senate, but told supporters he only sees a 60 percent chance of that happening now.
On a fundraising call with supporters, Cruz said Republicans have a far better chance of retaking the U.S. House and he’s traveling all over the country to help.“Between now and Election Day, I’m on the road non-stop trying to make that happen,” said Cruz, a Houston Republican in his second term in the U.S. Senate.
He said the math in the Senate is just more of a challenge for Republicans because they are defending more seats than Democrats are. The Senate now is split 50-50. Democrats are in charge because Vice President Kamala Harris is the tie-breaker. Republicans only need to pick up one seat in the Senate to retake the majority.
