Tabitha cycled from Wellingborough to Silverstone last month
A teenager from Northampton who was diagnosed with stage 3 cancer at 15, but who last month cycled from Wellingborough to Silverstone for BBC Children in Need, will have her journey broadcast on BBC One tonight, Tuesday, November 15.
The Relay was filmed between October 17 and 21, starting at Sunderland AFC and ending at Silverstone. The one off special which airs at 8pm on Tuesday evening, will share the team’s remarkable stories as they ride across all terrains and through all weather conditions as they push to reach their finish lines.
Tabitha was scheduled for surgery a week after her diagnosis, on Thursday, October 27, 2020, a week before her 16th birthday. Her surgery at Nottingham University Hospital lasted 9 hours, as doctors removed her left ovary and half of her right, alongside lymph nodes in her stomach where the cancer had spread.
When Tabitha was told she was in remission following her four months of treatment, she said it was an indescribable feeling. "I cannot put into words the emotion that came over me, we were just so happy. I could get back to being Tabitha again."
