Gerald Wickes, 79, was pronounced dead after being stabbed in Leicester on Wednesday.
A 17-year-old has been charged with the murder of a 79-year-old man.
Police said emergency services were called to Queens Park Way, Leicester, at about 17:00 GMT on Wednesday after a report that a man had been stabbed.The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has also been charged with possession of an offensive weapon and assaulting an emergency worker.A 44-year-old woman and 36-year-old man, arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder, have been released under investigation.
Mr Wickes' family said: "Gerald was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, who will be greatly missed by lots of family and friends."
