Police are investigating after a 14-year-old boy was killed in what may be an accidental shooting on Faulkner Street in southeast Houston.Authorities are looking into whether a shooting that killed a 14-year-old boy may have been accidental in southeast Houston Friday.
The Houston Police Department said it responded to a juvenile shot at an apartment complex on Faulkner Street just before 2 p.m."Several" people were said to be detained in what may have been an accidental shooting. HPD received initial reports of someone playing with a gun but later said there was a group of young males handling the weapon.
"There was some kind of manipulation of a handgun - we're not sure if it was accidental or intentional at this point," Lt. Larry Crowson with HPD said. "During that incident, there was at least one shot fired, which did strike the victim." Crowson did not say the teen's relation to those detained, but an ABC13 crew at the scene saw one of them in a patrol car crying and distraught.
Police said they're talking to witnesses and looking at surveillance video to find out what happened.
