Teen involved in fatal attack on school friend claims he only 'wanted to have a fight'
A teenager who has admitted playing a part in a fatal attack on a school friend said he just 'wanted to have a fight'. Lewis Ludford, 18, has pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of 17-year-old Kyle Hackland, but denies murder.
On Tuesday morning, Ludford, wearing a navy blue three piece suit, white shirt and red tie, told jurors he was in the same school year as Mr Hackland, and they both attended St Anne's high school in Stockport. Jurors were told that Mr Sesay had been robbed of about £1,000 after getting into a car. Ludford said he was told that the robbers were armed with guns.
He said the windows of the house in Gorton where he lived with his grandparents had been smashed previously. While he smashed the windscreen with the blunt end of a knife, he grabbed onto the blade and cut his hand, jurors heard. He said Mr Hackland's friend ran at them while armed with a knife, before running away down an alley. CCTV footage showed Ludford hitting Mr Hackland, kneeing him and then grappling with him.
