Police found the weapon in his bedroom when they called to the offender’s house – and he was reportedly wearing the same outfit as seen in CCTV. A police officer reportedly recognised the offender when his image was circulated, and while Jones could not pick out the teenager from an ID parade, his son accurately pointed him out.
Wimbledon Youth Court heard from prosecutor Robert Simpson that Jones and his 18-year-old son Lucas were walking on Chiswick Road at around 5.30pm when in broad daylight the youth approached them. He pulled a machete from his tracksuit bottoms and demanded the watch, with Simpson saying he ‘threatened to cut off his arm and other threats to obtain the Rolex watch he was wearing.’The teenager cannot be named due to his age, and his solicitor Gero Di Piazza entered a guilty plea on his behalf to charges of robbery and possession of a bladed weapon.
