UPDATE: The officer shot was a Temple University police officer and was killed while trying to apprehend a suspect on Saturday night, the university confirmed.
At the time of his death the officer was trying to apprehend the suspect in a robbery of a convenience store located at the corner of Cecil B. Moore and 15th street, the university said.Get Philly local news, weather forecasts, sports and entertainment stories to your inbox.
