A fisher in Hawaii is counting his lucky stars after a tiger shark took a chomp out of his kayak last Friday — and the terrifying moment was captured on film. “Heard a ‘whooshing’ sound, looked up and saw a wide brown thing on the side of the kayak,” fisher Scott Haraguchi wrote onHaraguchi was fishing about a mile off the eastern coast of Oahu on Friday when the tiger shark whipped out of the water and bit his boat. The wild footage, captured by Haraguchi’s GoPro camera, shows the scary moment. “Aarghh, tiger sharks!” Haraguchi can be heard yelling, before kicking the large fish in the face, sending it back into the water.
“I took my left foot out of the water to brace myself from impact and actually pushed the shark’s head off with it,” Haraguchi wrote alongside the video. “If you asked me to do that again, even without the shark, I don’t think I’d have that flexibility.”that he was running on adrenaline at the time, and didn’t realize how dramatic the moment was until reviewing the footage later.
“I realize that life is short, time is short on Earth, so make the most of it,” Haraguchi told the outlet.
