Tesco has implemented new 'Dalek-style' security robots in some of its UK stores, equipped with a 114-decibel siren and a voice warning system featuring a stern Northern Irish accent. The robots, dubbed PID360 by the company Deter Tech, alert store managers to potential intrusions and send video footage of intruders to a central control room.
Tesco bosses have introduced 'Dalek-style' security guards that issue threats to thieves in a 'stern Northern Irish accent' across their UK stores.
Moments later, a male voice with a strong Northern Irish accent issues the following message: "Warning, this is security, your presence has been detected the owner and police have been informed." On a Tesco staff blog, comments emerged with one individual stating: "That's a rather ominous northern Irish accent."
They elaborated: "When you set these off an angry Northern Irish man shouts at you through the speaker."
