Basics like milk, tea, and chicken were the priciest at Tesco
Tesco has been found to be the priciest supermarket from a comparison of basic items - knocking Morrisons off the top spot for the first time in six months.
Which is exactly why Manchester Evening News has been looking at the prices across eight basic items including a two-pint bottle of milk, a loaf of bread, coffee, teabags, butter, beans, chicken breasts and mince. Just four months ago, Tesco was found to be the cheapest option out of all the supermarket chains, when its bill came in at just £10.42 - which was 10% cheaper.
It also comes just after Morrisons has announced another major price cuts campaign, with 130 prices across its Saver range set to be reduced in a bid to help families budgets go that bit further.
