A crowd of 24,787 attended Saturday’s three games of the Shriners Children’s College Classic. A large portion of that number came out for the night matchup between Texas and LSU , the two highest ranked of the six teams in the field. Hodo’s third home run of the season into the left-field seats off righthander Ty Floyd scored Trey Faltine and Dylan Campbell, putting the Longhorns ahead 4-0. Murphy Stehly homered in the eighth, upping the lead to 6-0.
Texas starter Tristan Stevens was stellar in seven shutout innings, walking none and striking out seven. The righthander yielded just five hits, all singles. Floyd pitched four-plus innings, giving up four runs and five hits. LSU scored in the eighth on a sacrifice fly from Jordan Thompson, who on Friday hit a walkoff home run in the 11th inning to beat Oklahoma 5-4.
