Less than a week after testing positive for COVID-19, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott says he’s now testing negative for the virus. In a video statement, he credited his vaccination with keeping the infection brief and mild.
The treatment is typically given to patients who face risks of severe COVID-19 and is expected to shorten how long the infection lasts.“I will continue to work on issues that are important to the state of Texas, including opening infusion centers for antibody therapy treatment across the entire state,” he said.
Abbott, 63, was vaccinated late last year. He said his wife is testing negative also. The governor has been a staunch opponent of mask and vaccine mandates, Texas has reported more than 3.4 million COVID cases and at least 55,283 COVID-related deaths. Only California has reported more cases and deaths.
