Everything, it seemed, went right for the Longhorns Sunday night in their NCAA Tournament Austin Regional final against Air Force at Disch-Falk Field.
Texas now awaits the winner of Monday afternoon’s Greenville Regional final between eighth-seeded East Carolina and Coastal Carolina. The Longhorns will host the best-of-three super regional if the Chanticleers win and will travel to Greenville, N.C., if ECU wins. And Sthele had no problem retaining that lead, throwing three scoreless innings with two hits, two walks and two strikeouts. The rest of Texas’ bullpen crew was locked in, too.
After that five-run first inning, Texas added one run in the third, fourth, fifth, eighth and ninth innings. The Longhorns recorded 13 hits as a team, two of which left the yard courtesy of surging sophomore Campbell.
