Ireland’s most intrepid adventurer, Hector Ó hEochagáin, is back on our screens, a little closer to home than usual.
As an inveterate traveller who was nevertheless kept occupied with family life during the pandemic, Ó hEochagáin was delighted to get back on the road with his trusty team, producer Evan Chamberlain and cameraman Ross 'Rosco' O'Callaghan. Hector, who also makes a hugely successful podcast with his old school friend Tommy Tiernan and fellow presenter Laurita Blewitt, is known for his cheeky personality and wide-eyed determination to have the craic with everyone he meets.
“I am at my happiest when I'm sitting with ordinary people, talking,” he adds. “We get our best stories when we're just let loose into the countryside or into the cities to sit with normal people. “When I got to Lithuania and Latvia, I felt I was really with my cousins from Eastern Europe,” he says. “This latitudinal line comes across Latvia, Lithuania, down from Denmark, just above Holland, across the top of Scotland and down into us.
