What to expect for upcoming holiday travel:

... [+]An estimated 53.4 million Americans will travel between Wednesday, November 24 and Sunday, November 28, AAA predicted in its 2021 Thanksgiving travel forecast, up from 47.1 million that traveled over the Thanksgiving holiday in 2020.

Of those travelers, 48.3 million are expected to travel by car—an 8.4% increase from 2020 and only 3% down from 2019—with AAA noting that’s even more people than traveled by car in 2018. Only 1.02 million will travel by other modes of transportation—like trains or buses—which is still 31% down over 2019, but a 264% increase over 2020.
